further experimentation with sound/light systems for improvisation. an akai mpk mini is sending midi to ableton live. what you hear is operator (raw sine wave) through subtle valhalla dsp reverb.
the midi signal is then routed to the internal iac bus which communicates with a processing patch programmed by jacob sikker remin. this patch then communicates with the arduino, which has firmata loaded.
within that sketch i'm divvying up certain midi notes to specific pwm output pins on the arduino. led arrays are turned on when a note is pressed, and off when released. pulse width modulation enables brightness to be controlled by note velocity.
to increase brightness the fixture is a custom array of 12 20ma leds running on a 9 volt. the shade is shamelessly from ikea.
